Mathetes Mission Statement:

The word Mathetes is the Greek word for disciple; a learner, a follower, an apprentice.

It is the word Jesus Himself used when He called ordinary people to follow Him.

Mathetes Mission exists for one reason:

to make disciples of Jesus Christ, who make disciples of Jesus Christ.

This is not a brand.

It is not a movement built on charisma, ambition, or influence.

It is a response to a command.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” — Matthew 28:19–20

The Foundation: Salvation Comes First

At the heart of Mathetes Mission is the unshakable truth of the Gospel:

• that humanity is broken by sin, separated from God, and incapable of saving itself… yet deeply loved!

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Our first aim is always salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

– Not self-improvement.

– Not moralism.

– Not religion.

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14:6

Mathetes Mission seeks to clearly, boldly, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel so that people may repent, believe, and be saved, in order to do the same for others.

“Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” — Romans 10:17

The Call: From Convert to Disciple

Salvation is the beginning, not the finish line.

Jesus did not say, “Go and make converts.

He said, “Make disciples.”

A disciple is someone who learns from Jesus, walks with Jesus, submits to Jesus, and becomes like Jesus.

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” — Luke 9:23

Mathetes Mission exists to help believers move from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity, grounding them in Scripture, shaping them through obedience, and anchoring them in truth.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

We teach the Bible plainly, honestly, and contextually—because God transforms people through His Word, not ours.

The Vision: Disciples Who Make Disciples

The mission does not stop with personal growth. It multiplies.

Jesus invested deeply in a few so they could reach the many.

“And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” — 2 Timothy 2:2

Mathetes Mission equips believers to disciple others.

In their families, workplaces, communities, and causes they are called to help in.

This means:

  • Teaching believers how to share the Gospel
  • Helping them understand doctrine
  • Encouraging them to serve real needs with real faith

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” — 1 Peter 4:10

The Fruit: Faith That Works Through Love

True discipleship produces visible fruit.

Not perfection, but transformation.

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” — John 15:8

Mathetes Mission encourages believers to engage the causes God places on their hearts.

Whether that is serving the poor, strengthening families, mentoring the next generation, or bringing light into broken spaces… it’s always rooted in Christ and motivated by love.

“Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” — James 2:17

Good works do not save us, but saved people are called to walk in them:

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” — Ephesians 2:10

The Heart of the Mission

Mathetes Mission is about obedience, not applause.

Faithfulness, not fame.

Eternity, not comfort.

We believe the Church grows strongest when believers are grounded in truth, disciplined in love, and sent with purpose.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” (Colossians 3:16)

“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” (James 1:22)

Our prayer is simple:

• That the lost will be found.

• That believers will be discipled.

• That disciples will multiply.

• And that Jesus Christ will be glorified in all things.

“To Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” — Ephesians 3:21
