Day 11 — “Gratitude That Guards the Heart”

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

(1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, ESV)

This verses keeps prayer in the forefront on my mind. To always rejoice, pray habitually, and to appreciate ALL circumstances, for that’s the will of God.

Making a habit of prayer is one of the most beneficial things we can do. These days it seems like everyone is seeking out therapy and counseling and there’s an abundance of mental health counseling being offered, but we’re arguably in the worse mental health crisis ever known. I’m curious how many people seek Gods advice and counseling regularly before turning to a career counselor to vent and seek guidance.

Pray without ceasing, even if seeking outside guidance, remember to rejoice always and put your faith in God. And even in those tough, dark, hopeless times, try to remember that God is with you and is using this time to unfold His plans for you. Hard times create strong people.

Today’s Focus:

• Thankfulness as protection from bitterness and burnout

Prayer 🙏

Gracious God, thank you for guiding us through life and looking over us along the way. Thank you for the good times and the bad, because both show me that your presence is in my life. Please give strength to those of us going through mental hardships, and give them the guiding light to find you in their times of distress, and I pray that you may warm their lives with your Spirit so that they can see Your Light in their darkness. Amen.
